Deep Ecology and Reclamation of the Soul
Immersion on August 30 from 10am - 6pm

When the soul of a human culture is damaged, usuruped, stolen, and marginalized, its soul undergoes severe distortions, showing up as diminished vitality, poverty, homelessness, mental disorientation, and dispiritedness. Loss of soul manifests as diseases of the spirit: depression, suicide, overeating and addictions. As Deep Ecologists work to heal damaged eco systems, reclamation of the soul works to heal damaged human eco systems, the ones inside us. In this class well begin to work with invisibles, our own healing and integration and developing sensory acuity.
This session addresses perennial questions as maps into the territory of this work: Do you know where your soul resides in your body? What is soul? Who are all those voices in our head? How many times have we sabotaged ourselves and decisions weve made? What does it mean to be intimate with yourself? Are you in relationship with your body, your organ systems and the intelligences that live there?
The nature of the work is intimate, going below superficiality. It may challenge your beliefs about the nature of reality, and long held beliefs and values. It will not affirm the limitations you currently have but it will affirm the life you could have if you go beyond those limitations. Come prepared to stretch your comfort zone, to drop below what you think you know to the place that is real and intimate and sustaining; a specific kind of food for the soul.

ABOUT COMMUNITY INTO ACTION ?
There is a hunger for community in our country, a desire for more authentic and supportive connection. Many people, from therapists to TV talk show hosts, to teachers and even to some politicians, talk about essentially negative or "wanting" aspects of our culture and call for more community. In spite of the many calls for it, there have been pitifully few real or accurate suggestions on how to create the community that is needed.
This day long event will give you both an intellectual and experiential understanding of what really works in creating authentic community. Fascinatingly, there is now a scientific basis upon which far greater success can be had in creating
the community of your dreams. There are several dimensions of Real community creation which you will learn about.
1) The FOUR Major Personal Components required.
2) The FOUR Stages of Community Development and how to
navigate them successfully.
3) The FOUR major cultural oppositions to Real Community
Creation and how to overcome them.
4) The FOUR major practices for integrating all of the above
successfully.
Often, people in a quest for 'more detail' tend to think (or want to think) that "I should be able to understand (intellectually, conceptually) what the GateWay to Community process is about and how it works - well.... then everything will be ok. The truth of the matter is that the Real Community process is not one which can easily be intellectually understood without having the personal experience beforehand. If you had never rode a bicycle and I as an accomplished bike rider were to try to explain it
to you (an intellectual endeavor via verbality), would it help you
learn how to ride a bike? No!
Exactly the same is true, even more so, for the GateWay to Community process. It can NOT be accomplished via intellectual strength or insight. It requires an integration across several layers of consciousness, of which the intellect is only but one.
I can give you this: the process flows naturally between being insightful, dynamic, peaceful, strong, uplifting, inspiring, and, almost always, it is "interesting". It holds your attention as you head into relearning / new learning about a natural condition - "community" - of what it is to be fully human and in authentic and supportive connection with other people. It invariably produces more Joy, Hope and full Aliveness in your life.
Format: There is a full morning session starting at 10:00 with an hour break for lunch. We will regroup again in the afternoon, ending approximately at 6 pm.
Cost: $55. for 21 & older. $40 for 15 up to 20. The minimum age is 15. There is a maximum of 25 people in this event.
How to Make Really Awesome Foam Weapons
for kids (see photo examples here)
Cost: $20, when registered for the full conference
$30, when attending the Immersion ONLY
We will have all the materials so you can make a weapon of your choice: sword, axe, or club. These weapons can be used for all sorts of imaginative battle play including LARP - Live Action Role Playing - an awesome adventure using foam weapons for battle. If you want to LARP then the first thing you need is a weapon. All supplies will be provided and you'll go home ready for combat. We will also show you other weapons you can make on your own like a great axe, mace or war hammer.
Later in the conference we will teach you some ways to battle each other with the weapons you've made.
